Montreal, QC-based queer hip-hop artist, Shades Lawrence has unveiled a new music video for her breezy R&B song, “Turn My Head” (feat. Emma Maryam). The single comes just in time for Valentine’s Day and follows the release of her latest EP, East West Road, which was released on December 4, 2020.
The video, which is directed by Nadia Louis-des-Marchais, narrates a queer love story that begins on a date that takes place from dusk until dawn. The cinematic scenes show Shades and her love interest (played by Magali Roche) naturally vibing with each other as the night unfolds.
The song and video do a great job to capture the excitement of new love and convey the complex universal feelings that come up at the beginning of a relationship — especially when you aren’t sure how the other person really feels yet.
