Montreal, QC-based band, Double Date with Death released their second album, L’Au-Delà in January 2020, which is entirely in French. The quartet is mainly influenced by punk and Californian garage, which is apparent on the album.
Today, the band is unveiling the video for “Copier-Coller”, which was done by Sztuka Naiwna, who has also worked with the Oh Sees).

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi, my name is Vincent Khouni and I am the singer and guitar player of Double Date with Death!
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
Usually, I have a main riff who comes up, I try to play around this riff and try to build up something cool. Work on the melody of it and imagine a progression! The lyrics always come at the end for me. I see them like the last instrument to add to the song in a way.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
Yes, we do! We will play at Quebec on January 9th at L’Anti for a Web live show. It’s gonna be fun.
We bring a lot of energy in a live performance, so I could say one word to describe our live show is ROCK.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
I think I would choose Fluorescent from our last album L’Au-Delà. I’m very proud of this song and we really have fun playing it live with the boys.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
There are so many good bands here, it’s hard to choose. But for the inspirational sides, I would say Chocolat, Corridor, or Ponctuation. We had the chance to work with Guillaume Chiasson (Ponctuation, Bon Enfant) who has so many good bands. Also, we really like the new album by our friend Venus Furs.
How have you been keeping creative during the Pandemic?
Very actually. I worked with my different bands but we have just finished a studio session with DDWD. We already worked on the new album 🙂
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
