Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We are Chelsea’s Tail, a 3-piece rock band from Richmond, BC.
We have been mixing hard-hitting riffs and blending harmonies since May of 2010.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
The main thing that makes us stand out from others are our vocal harmonies and being able to play our instruments while doing these elaborate (vocal) bobbing and weaving. Whenever we jam out a song, we frame it with the mindset of performance – “Can we perform this live, and will it surprise people”.
With the multitude of genres we listen to on the daily, be it K-Pop to J-Rock or Pop-Punk to Metalcore, we try not to restrict the ideas we bring to the table, knowing that at the end of the day, we would’ve naturally dialed it back into a sound we can simply call “The CT Sound”.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
Currently, we do not have shows lined up, but a live show is ideally the best place to be enveloped by our sound and high energy. During live shows, we really focus on the performance aspect of being on-stage, so that really comes off in the delivery of our music. Each show, we try to give the audience a bit more enthusiasm than the last, aiming to entertain not only those who haven’t seen or heard of us yet, but those who do know us and keep coming back for more.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Our song ‘Towers’ really conveys what we try to do; with uplifting yet hard-hitting chords and melodies. It definitely entices listeners to join in with the vocals and rock out as it takes you along for the ride.
