Five Questions With Harry Hannah

Canadian folk’d-up rocker Harry Hannah has released his newest single, “Alberta”.

Landing ahead of his forthcoming EP, The Wild Side, “Alberta” serves as a prime example of the Cobourg, Ontario artist’s adventurous and multi-faceted songwriting style.

“I like to be very visual with my writing,” Hannah considers. “It helps me submerse into the artistic universe. I don’t know if it always comes across, but there’s usually a specific scene or setting that goes along with the timeline of the story in my songs.

“I also try to connect those scenes when I’m writing a full project,” he continues, “but it’s up to the listener to interpret the song or message their own way. I want them to take what they want from it.

“That being said, I really enjoy when a song is so vivid, you can see it, like a painting in your head; it makes it tough to ignore what the artist has to say.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello Canadians. The name is Harry Hannah. I’m a “Folk’d up Rock” Artist from Cobourg, Ontario. taking on the music industry independently, and folk’n things up as I go. I write my own songs, organically and as adventurously folk’d up as possible. I tell the stories of my life and times traveling around Canada as a hopeless romantic and vagabond, going through the woes and wows of my early adulthood.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

My new track “Alberta” puts us on the Map and marks the beginning of the next adventure. Currently, I’m just finishing up my forthcoming EP “The Wild Side” coming to stores in 2021. I try to be very visual with my writing so the EP is written to portray a series of scenes and situations that debut my life and times to the world. There’s usually a vision that I have or am trying to portray through my work. I really enjoy painting pictures with music.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

My shows are meant to be very fun, feel good, and friendly. I really enjoy making the most out of every show with every crowd while facilitating a safe space for my listeners to let loose and rock along to my folk’d up music. I would totally recommend it to anyone with a keen sense of adventure and love for good songwriting.

I’m currently organizing a series of [COVID SAFE] pop up shows at different small venues and private parties around southeastern, Ontario. I try to keep these pretty low key and first come first serve for the safety of the locals throughout the pandemic. You can keep up with me on Instagram @harold_thehannah or the Harry Hannah Facebook Page for the occasional live stream. If anyone out there is eager for more HH content, adventures, or live experiences you can give us a follow on our socials or check out the website @ harryhannah.com and subscribe to our mailing list!

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Probably, Alberta. It’s actually my first “Radio Ready” track so far, and it does a great job of portraying my hopeful desire through the disconnection of the 2020 pandemic. It also has a pretty great music video around the campfire so it’s a lot of fun and I think it gives people a good first impression into my world and lifestyle! The best is probably yet to come in my opinion..
