Multi-award winning singer/songwriter Maria Manna has unveiled her new sassy single, “I Like It In The Water”, which was written and composed by Maria Manna, Mark Robson, and Dean Hajas, with production credits to Christopher Grew and Dean Hajas.

An indefatigable dynamo across her 45-year career and a pure gem in Canada’s creative crown, “I Like It In The Water” lands as a moment for pause to revel in the fruits of a life well-lived. “My inspiration while filming the video was my husband, who sat in the audience,” Manna shares. “He knows I like to dance in the water…

“The song was created as a celebration of life, and the desire to share intimacy with the person of your choice. It captures the essence of the joy of living and giving to your special someone. It’s my hope that showcasing love and happiness gives a sense of freedom of choice as an evolved, responsible being.

“My message to all women is to feel free to dance in the water with your loved one any which way you desire,” she continues. “Dance the dance of love! Exist in this life just as you are!

“You are beautiful just being you.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi, my name is Maria Manna. I am born and raised in Edmonton Alberta to Italian Immigrants. For the past 20 years, I have been living in Victoria BC. I have 2 children of my own and 2 stepchildren. I also am a proud grandmother of 2 boys.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I have been exposed to many genres of music as well as ethnic music. My passion is jazz, blues, and gospel. I like to write about experiences and what feeds the soul. Because I don’t read music for me it’s all about the ear. I have been blessed with a good range too.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

I was supposed to have 2 shows with double Grammy winner Diane Schuur but got canceled due to COVID-19 and 2 big band concerts in Italy. My latest show was one I performed and produced called Ladies of Jazz.

Engaging, entertaining, and educational. I think I am pretty funny so I never miss an opportunity to entertain.

My performances are themed so my audience knows what they are getting, but then there are always some surprises. The audience are my props. So the show is all about them.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
