The Saskatoon-based band, The North Sound will be releasing their second full-length roots-rock album, As The Stars Explode on October 23, 2020.
Today, they have unveiled their new single, “Heavy Heart” along with a video for the release.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey y’all, I’m Forrest Eaglespeaker of The North Sound. I’m a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, a father, a family man, and a guy in recovery. I’m Blackfoot from Treaty 7 territory, KaiNai Nation, the Blood Tribe, and I was born in Calgary Alberta but I reside in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with my life/music partner Nevada and our 3-year-old daughter Aspen.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
All my songs come from lived experiences whether that be good or bad. My main goal other than writing the best possible song I can is to write something that others can connect with on more than just a surface level. Sometimes I want people to cry, other times I want people to dance, and sometimes I want people to cry while they dance.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
COVID has made the live shows thing pretty tough. And with a 3-year-old at home and another one on the way we try to limit as much physical contact with the outside world as possible. I do hope to be on stage soon though! One time someone said our live show is like Saturday night on a Sunday afternoon. Not sure what it means but I like it!
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
I think I would choose Better Days. Its the first song I wrote in sobriety after a 13 year-long battle with active alcoholism. It was a real struggle to figure out how to write sober, since I never really had, and I feel like that song is so raw yet hopeful and has a sound that I am quite happy with.
