Last night, Canadian DJ Deadmau5 stopped by Montreal for the final dates of his tour of Canadian drive-ins, which previously took him to Toronto and Ottawa. Following an opening set by Montreal’s Eekkoo, Deadmau5 delivered a solid set made of his classics (“Strobe”, “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff”) and newer tracks (“Pomegranate”). While the social distancing-friendly drive-in set up lacked the typical intensity of a packed EDM crowd, we must recognize the energy of the crowd present, who had some great set-ups and danced around their cars despite the cold weather. All in all, last night’s set was a much-appreciated reminder of how much live music is missed right now, and in the words of Deadmau5 himself, “A grood break from all this bullsh*t”.
