waants, the Halifax, NS area electropop artist and producer is proud to announce the release of his second single, “When Summer Comes” which is out now on LHM Records via Distribution Select.
waants is the new solo project from producer and songwriter Adam Warren. Drawing inspiration from Rostam’s shift from indie band songwriter/producer to solo artist and electropop’s current vanguard, waants is both Warren’s most sonically-expansive and most pop effort yet.
Co-produced with support from Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), “When Summer Comes” was written in the spring of 2019 after the sudden passing of Warren’s mother that April. The lyrics look toward a time when Warren hoped he might find some relief from the grief and heartbreak; the summer serving as a place and time in the future where some warmth and light might find its way back in through the cracks left in him in the wake of his mother’s passing.
“When Summer Comes” is hopeful and warm. It evokes the happiness and peace of everyday life in commonplace activities like trips to the beach and family BBQs that we sometimes take for granted. The sound of steel drums carry the listener to an imagined beach in the future when summer comes back again, and the lo-fi piano and 808s ground the sound of the track in contemporary pop and hip-hop elements.

Music has touched my soul since day one. Whether it is performing or sitting down with some of the biggest names in music, I can always be found sharing my profoundly tender affection of music with anyone who will listen. Being a music journalist has allowed me to expand my knowledge of music and interact with some of my biggest childhood heroes. From days of radio broadcasting to sitting back, kicking off my cowboy boots and sharing my adventures with likeminded music fans online has been nothing short of amazing. Canada is full of true musical talent and I look forward to continuing to share my adventures in music with you.
