The world of awards shows have changed, as we know with many being adapted, postponed, or canceled in 2020. The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) thought long and hard on how to deliver a reimagined event that would please their fans and they have done just that. The CCMA will host their biggest event of the year with a multi-city broadcast delivering premium performances and more talent than ever before for the 2020 CCMA Awards on Global. This show will have an intimate feeling while still be entertaining; one that pays tribute to country music, Canada’s fastest-growing genre. Some of the show was filmed at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds, Ontario (home to the four-time CCMA Award-winning Boots and Hearts Music Festival) and against the skyline of Nashville, Tennessee.
CCMA president Tracy Martin explains,
“As we worked to create this show we didn’t want to lose sight that winning a CCMA Award is a monumental experience for an artist and that although it seems like everything has changed, the one thing that remains constant is the hard work and achievements of our artists. Every year we hand out awards that reflect the excellence found in Canada within our genre and we couldn’t imagine not doing that this year. We’re so grateful to our broadcast partner Global TV who, without hesitation, stepped in to help us create this incredibly memorable show.
This year’s show is truly a passion project. The dedication of our team to make a safe space for us to create this musical love letter to our genre is not something I’ll soon forget. We hope the virtual audience loves it as much as we do.”
The entertainment … what a lineup! From Canada, we’ll see performances by Don Amero, Dean Brody, Jade Eagleson, Hunter Brothers, James Barker Band, Brett Kissel, JoJo Mason, Jess Moskaluke, The Reklaws, Dallas Smith, and Tebey + Marie Mai. Lindsay Ell, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Meghan Patrick, Mackenzie Porter, and Tenille Townes will join the party from Nashville, TN. The 2020 CCMA Awards presented by TD will also include appearances by international artists Kane Brown, Sam Hunt + Breland, and Tim McGraw.
All eight of the artist-based CCMA Awards — Fans’ Choice, Female Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Group or Duo of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Rising Star, and TD Entertainer of the Year — will be given out on-air on September 27. The remaining awards will be presented during a virtual Country Music Week, attended by CCMA members in the days leading up to the 2020 CCMA Awards Show.
The 2020 CCMA Awards presented by TD will air on Global and stream live on the Global TV App on Sunday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The show will also broadcast on Corus radio stations Country 105 (Calgary), CISN Country 103.9 (Edmonton), and Country 104 (London/Woodstock).

Hi all. I’m Nanci Dagg. I am from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and have lived my entire life here. There is nothing I like better than supporting local artists followed by supporting Canadian artists. Although I was a classic rock gal, my go to genre is country. Something about this music that just makes me feel great. I can be found at most country music concerts and shows (from someone’s house to really large venues) taking lots of pictures. Music and photography are two of my passions. Add to this mix, writing about artists, well let’s say, life doesn’t get better than this.
