Montreal’s International Jazz Festival is going digital for 2020!

Two months after announcing the cancellation of its 2020 edition, Montreal’s International Jazz Festival announced earlier today that they will be offering a special digital edition from June 27th to 30th 2020, featuring free live performances online by Charlotte Cardin, Jean-Michel Blais, The Barr Brothers, and many more!

This special happening will follow a schedule similar to the one we have come to know and love. Every evening will kick-off with an Apéro SAQ, a live performance by some of the festival’s favorite acts. There will then be the TD Sessions and Rio Tinto Rhythms, special performances broadcasted live from a dedicated space at Montreal’s L’Astral, accompanied by archive footage of the most legendary performances in the festival’s history. Finally, the Fin de soirée Loto-Québec will close the night with a virtual party set! The exact schedule will be unveiled within the next few days, but the Festival guarantees a high-quality production with multi-camera configuration, led by director Maxime Théoret-Bissonnette from Radio Canada.

Jacques K. Primeau, general director of the Montreal International Jazz Festival, explains:

“It is of the utmost importance for us to continue to bring the jazz Festival to the people, and despite the challenging circumstances this year, we are thrilled to be able to offer an innovative solution to get the music out to the fans! We are also extremely proud to offer artists a chance to do what they do best, perform for all of us!”

All the exclusive live performances will also be available on-demand separately on all the Jazz fest digital platforms right after the live broadcast each night.

The digital edition of the 2020 Montreal International Jazz Festival will be taking place from June 27th to 30th. For more details, visit the festival’s website.
