Alberta band Starpainter has just released their debut record, “Bury Me By My Family.” The five-piece group is a mashup of rock, country and pop, and show strong songwriting and an affinity for classic folk and rock. Their LP builds a narrative of beauty, love, fear and loss—but is not too sorrow, or too sweet. The songs are steeped in the tradition of prairie-born artistry with a pop sensibility that defies their youth.
I’m Shayla, and I was born in Saskatoon but moved to Halifax in 2013 for University, and since decided to stay here for a while. I recently received a Bachelor of Design, after studying photography for a year or two as well. I love everything about music and how it has the ability to bring so many people together from across the country and even the world. My passion for music is one of the reasons I moved East to pursue a photography and design career, as I would love to do graphic design and photography within the Canadian music industry.
