Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi, My name is Duane Steele. My music has always been centered around Country Music, as that’s what I grew up playing in Northern Alberta.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I Try to write and record songs that have some meaning to me or have affected me either directly or indirectly …some of my biggest influences in songwriting are Rodney Crowell, Vince gill, Merle Haggard to name a few.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

I had shows booked for this spring with Gord Bamford on his #Redneck Tour, along with Jess Moskaluke, JoJo Mason, Eric Ethridge, Corey Marks, Andrew Hyatt, and Ghost Boy, but those shows have since been canceled. We’re all hoping to get back on the road when this crisis that we’re all in is over and life resumes

If I had to describe my live show it would be that I try my very best to connect with the audience through my music and conversation. I always try to include the hit songs I’ve had over the years as well as some new things once in a while.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

If I could suggest a song for someone to hear of mine, it’ll always be my current release lol. We’re just about to release a brand new single called “ Bonfires and Guitars”  My friend Tim Taylor and I wrote it and I’m hoping it gives everyone a good feeling and inspiration this spring as we move into summer.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/artists?

There are many fine Canadian artists and I’m a fan of most of them. I would say that getting to tour with Gord and Jess,  JoJo, Eric, Andrew, Corey, and Ghost Boy that I’ve been hit over the head with some great new Canadian music and Artists…our Industry is in good hands and I look forward to hearing more of what’s coming down the pipe.
