Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Teigen Gayse. I’m a singer/ songwriter from Kelowna British Columbia. I just released my debut self titled album, you can stream it on all platforms right now, along with a music video for one of the tracks on my record “Don’t Look Back” so go check that out!
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
I tend to write about life experience, but the most important part of the writing process for me is finding a melody that clings to you. I’ll mess around with words and chord progressions till I find something unique and catchy and then I’ll piece the words in.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
Unfortunately because of COVID, all live shows are on hold but I’ll be keeping up with the live streams. I love connecting with my audience, I think when you pay to go see a show you should give them what they can’t get when listening to your album, and that’s personality and interaction, and telling stories behind the songs.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Probably “Austin” or “Fly Away Boy” I love both those melodies and the story behind them. And funny enough, they are both written about the same guy!
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favorite Canadian bands/ artists?
Shania Twain will always be an all-time favorite for me from Canada! I also enjoy listening to Tenille Arts, Tenilla Townes, Dean Brody, and High Valley.
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
