Joshua Van Tassel releases new single, “Their Love Was Alive Before They Were Dead”

Joshua Van Tassel is back with the lead single from his upcoming record, “Their Love Was Alive Before They Were Dead” along with a dramatic music video.

The lengthy song title raises several questions, and Van Tassel delivers answers upon listening to the track.

The cinematic song + music video combo illustrates a couple who are so in love with the presence of one another that their focus doesn’t stray away from their counterpart for the entire five-and-a-half minute drama. Van Tassel’s supporting soundscape, though, invades the wholesome scene in such a way that invites inevitable tragedy to the pair’s undying love.

According to Van Tassel, his goal all along was to make people feel this way.

“Every day we are exposed to scenes of despair, ugliness, and struggle. Our minds and hearts need some form of replenishment, and what better way to get then to look into the eyes of someone we love,” writes Van Tassel. “Who is the last person you looked at, without speaking, without glancing at a phone, for more than a few seconds? Beautiful things are sometimes simple and directly in front of you,” says the artist about the meaning of the song.

Van Tassel’s forthcoming album, Dance Music Volume II: More Songs For Slow Motion, is expected to release in the fall.
