Calgary’s Laura Hickli has unveiled her newest single, “Listen”, which was recorded during a residency at the world-renowned Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
The single tells the story of a young artist recovering from traumas that affected her trust in herself. It is cognitive-behavioural therapy in action. The slow and steady reassurance in the legitimacy of one’s own thoughts and value after years of self-doubt and second-guessing. It explores dissociation from self and the ignorance of mental health illnesses for the comfort of other people, and how that never got her anywhere.
Check out the single below and stay up to date with Laura via her socials.
