The Trews have a new video out for their latest single “God Speed Rebel”.
The Canadian rock icons made the most of their current separation by jamming to the track remotely and recording the entire video from their homes using the ZOOM video chat app.
Here is what frontman Colin MacDonald had to say about the video:
“Spring is in the air and we’re in quarantine, here’s a new song to help you along these unprecedented days. This tune showed up on our doorstep last year and we’ve been looking for a home for it ever since. We figured it was time to send this quirky, warm and friendly little jam out into the world to keep you company while you’re stuck inside. A song for your soundtrack of solitude. It’s about rock ‘n’ roll, being an individual in the ever-changing and unforgiving world, doing the right thing always and helping others along the way….or it’s just a cool and catchy tune if we do say so ourselves. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home. ‘God Speed Rebel.’”
Proceeds from the track’s sales will be donated directly to the Unison Benevolent Fund which supports musicians and artists in times of emergency.
Hi, my name is Max. I’m a journalism student currently on placement here at Canadian Beats. I grew up in the GTA, but I’ve been around Ontario a little bit for school in the past few years. I think in a lot of ways the landscape of Canadian music is partially shaped by the journalists who choose to dedicate their time to giving it exposure. By promoting and contributing to a healthy media environment for Canadian artists, journalists contribute in their own way to keeping a strong Canadian music identity alive. I’m excited to hopefully be a small part of that contribution over the next few weeks.
