Canadian nu-disco singer Cory Stewart plans to drop a new track on Monday, in celebration of “National Get Over It Day”.
Written and produced by Stewart and award-winning musician Gavin Bradley (Nelly Furtado, Kylie Minogue), “Do You” fits the message behind “National Get Over It Day” perfectly.
Introduced in 2005, the idea behind the self-help holiday is to encourage people to overcome the small challenges in their lives, or at least put them out of mind for one day of the year.
“Do You” tackles the themes of toxic relationships and betrayal, but encourages the listener to overcome and take pride in themselves.
Hi, my name is Max. I’m a journalism student currently on placement here at Canadian Beats. I grew up in the GTA, but I’ve been around Ontario a little bit for school in the past few years. I think in a lot of ways the landscape of Canadian music is partially shaped by the journalists who choose to dedicate their time to giving it exposure. By promoting and contributing to a healthy media environment for Canadian artists, journalists contribute in their own way to keeping a strong Canadian music identity alive. I’m excited to hopefully be a small part of that contribution over the next few weeks.
