Award-winning BC Country Music Female Artist of the Year, Ajaye Jardine has unveiled the video for her newest single, “Fill It Up Again”.
“I create music because it’s who I am,” she says of “Fill It Up Again” and Midnight & Bourbon. “I’m a storyteller.
When I was writing this album, my intention was to be really honest with myself and share both the highs and lows I’ve experienced to that point in my life. From loss to love, heartbreak to self-improvement, I’ve learned to always find the silver lining in life, or the blessing in disguise, no matter how obvious or hidden it is.
We all experience heartbreak, we all crave the feeling of joy and success, we all face disappointment, and we all want to be loved,” she continues, candidly. “As an artist, it’s my responsibility to be vulnerable enough through the stories I write and to create a space where others can come to the realization that no one is alone… We’re all in this together.
Just like everyone, I’m figuring it all out one day at a time. I view my career not as ‘me’ but as ‘we’ — how can we be better versions of ourselves? How can we love ourselves more, so we can love others and the planet just as much? How can we make this world a better place?
I’m committed to a lifelong process of creating music and stories that leave an impact for the better. The work can’t be wrong and it can never be done. I’m loving every second.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey everyone! My name is Ajaye (pronounced “AJ”), I’m a roots/country/pop artist-songwriter originally from Richmond, BC, and I’m currently based in Nashville TN.
My vision as an artist is to create an impact for a better world. Just like everyone, I’m figuring it all out one day at a time. I view my career not as ‘me’ but as ‘we’ — how can we be better versions of ourselves? How can we love ourselves more, so we can love others and the planet just as much? How can we make this world a better place? We’re all in this together.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
My music dances on the lines between country, roots, and pop/rock. All of my writing comes from a very genuine place.
When I was writing for the Midnight & Bourbon record, my intention was to be really honest with myself and share both the highs and lows I’ve experienced to that point in my life. From loss to love, heartbreak to self-growth, I’ve learned to always find the silver lining in life, or the blessing in disguise, no matter how obvious or hidden it is.
We all experience heartbreak, we all crave the feeling of joy and success, we all face disappointment, and we all want to be loved. As an artist, it’s my responsibility to be vulnerable and open through the stories I write and to create a space where others can come to the realization that no one is alone…we’re all in this together.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I do! I play regularly in Nashville TN – the best way is to check out my show calendar on my website: www.ajayejardine.com
This summer, I’m performing at Rockin’ River Fest 2020 in Merritt. We’re also working on a few more summer shows out west, but can’t say anything quite yet! Stay tuned.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Fill it up Again. We have the choice to see the cup of life half full, half empty, or bottomed out. However, I’m a firm believer that every day is a new day to choose how we perceive our experience.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
There are so many to choose from! But here’s a list of some of my current faves:
Sons of Daughters, Stone Poets, Tanya Ryan, Mariya Stokes, Callie McCullough, Molly Brown, Mallory Johnson, The Heels. I’m definitely missing a few in this list, but check these artists/bands out! Great songs, great sounds, and are friends of mine!
