Five Questions With The Midnight Echo

Ontario’s The Midnight Echo released their debut album, Voyager back in 2017, and they have not slowed down since. The band recently returned from a very successful 6-week tour through Western Canada in support of the Commerical Radio Release of their single, “How To Escape Reality”, which was picked up on 57 stations across Canada.

They are now back in the studio to complete the music to be included on their Sophomore album due to be released in March.

Take a moment to check out the lyric video for “How To Escape Reality” and find out more about The Midnight Echo via our Five Questions With segment.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey! We are The Midnight Echo, an alternative rock act based out of Whitby, Ontario! We formed in 2016 releasing our debut album ‘Voyager’ and have been touring around North America ever since!

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

Our writing style has definitely morphed over the years as we have all been playing in bands since 2012. The best way to describe our music is that we try to fuse the hook-laden anthems of the early 2000s with the synth-driven tones of 80s new wave music to create our own unique and atmospheric sound.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

We just finished up our latest tour at the end of 2019 and are now gearing up for a big year in 2020. We will be playing at Play in Barrie on March 28th and also a Canadian East Coast tour (April 24th-May 16th) and West Coast Tour from May 29th-June 26th) We have also been working towards securing festival dates throughout this summer. Stay tuned to our social media pages for more updates and announcements!

As for our live performance, we are definitely one of the louder and full sounding bands that you will hear. We really pride ourselves on creating a full wall of sound throughout the show! Typically what you hear on our recorded tracks is what you’re going to get live!

Scott Bennett – The Rec Room, Calgary, AB said “The Midnight Echo is one of the most engaging groups that I have seen in recent years.  Their passion and performance is what will make people excited about live music again.  You seriously don’t want to miss them.”

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Our latest track is definitely one of our strongest titles “How to Escape Reality”.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

Our favourite Canadian bands include Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Our Lady Peace and Sum 41.
