Ottawa, ON’s Trevor Alguire has unveiled a video for his single, “Reckless Daydreams” which marks the first taste of his 7th album.

Trevor shares,

“In the new video we tried to portray the fine line we walk each day with the dangers of drifting between now and then, with our hearts pulling us back to what was and what could have been. Leaving us stranded in a Reckless Daydream.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey Everybody! Trevor Alguire here.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I’ve always written songs that told a story that were written about real life and real experiences. I’m not good at writing fiction. It’s the way I process my thoughts and feelings more out of necessity than any other reason. I like to write albums as much as it seems to be a dying art these days I really feel it can take a listener on a journey much like a week or month in their life, there’s ups and downs, happy and sad times and as a writer, I always hope to help them through their days with relatable stories through my music. I’ve often been told that my songs are great traveling tunes for the road, and I take that as a compliment

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

Not any confirmed shows as of now, though plans are in place to return on tours to Europe as well as across Canada in support of my upcoming 7th album. 2020 tour dates will be up on my site at www.trevoralguire.com soon. I would say my shows always include stories with stage banter between songs ranging from foot-stomping rockers to dark ballads. (I was once told after a show that if music ever failed me I’d make a great comedian.) I feed off of the crowd and great crowd communication makes for special shows.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

I would say – My Sweet Rosetta – as it continues to garner great reviews around the world. We made a video for it as well. https://youtu.be/PffUJltD-kA

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

Currently, Catherine MacLellan who was kind enough to accompany me on my aforementioned song “My Sweet Rosetta”, and I also listen to a lot of older artists like Gordon Lightfoot and The Band. There are so many amazing Canadian artists that are writing great music today.
