Indie88 and Major League Socks team up to help the homeless!

After former Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock was let go earlier this month, the company was left wondering what to do with its current inventory. Today, Major League Socks (formerly Babsocks), is proud to announce that they’ll be donating 1,000 pairs of socks in support of The Josie Dye Show’s 3rd annual Socks for the Streets campaign, in partnership with Socks 4 Souls Canada.

Indie88’s Josie Dye explains:

“Socks for the Streets started a few years ago when we realized that there was a crisis in our city. We talk about Toronto being this world class place, yet we have hundreds of people freezing on the streets every year. This campaign is all about addressing that reality and making sure we’re keeping our fellow Torontonians warm.”

Socks 4 Souls Canada is a volunteer-based organization that helps provide clean socks for Toronto’s homeless population. According to a 2018 census, there are over 8,700 homeless individuals in the streets in Toronto, and that over 20 percent of their medical problems are foot health related. This year’s campaign aims to collect 35,000 socks for those in need.

Jake Mednick, Cofounder of Major League Socks adds:

“We had an opportunity to make a positive impact in our community. Our business is all about bringing a smile through socks, so supporting The Josie Dye Show and Socks 4 Souls Canada reach their goal and helping our fellow Torontonians out in the process was a no brainer.”

Sock donations can be dropped off at Dufferin Mall (900 Dufferin St) on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14 as The Josie Dye Show broadcasts live starting at 10:00 am, so be sure to come on down and donate your best foot forward!
