Toronto, ON-based four-piece band, Pink Leather Jackets have unveiled a video for their single, “Wasting Time”. Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey, we’re Pink Leather Jackets! We’re from Toronto. We like to eat pizza, drink whiskey, shoot espressos, and play rock’n’roll. Long walks on the beach are fine too but its snowing here right now…
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
Our music is a hard-hitting punk-pop-rock party for the ears and the soul… and the eyes if you see us live. Lyrically reflecting the days of our lives and more than likely the days of your lives too, in some way anyway… Sonically maybe you’ll hear a lot of different influences from mainstream and alternative rock but I think our lead vocal tone is a big part of what makes us sound original. Our writing style seeks to keep the listener hooked, dancing, and wanting more. Listen for yourself and let us know what ya think!
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
Yes! We’re having our EP release party Saturday, December 14th at Junction City Music Hall in Toronto! We also tend to play all over southern Ontario on a regular basis. This Friday we’ll be in Newmarket, Ontario at Olde Village Free House. You can see all our show listings at www.pinkleatherjackets.com
Our live performance will usually consist of sunglasses, balloons, guitar solos, and chanting. Sexy lead vocals over top of glorious harmonies. Maybe a stage dive or a run across the bar to put a guitar in everyone’s face. It’s a little different every time but always a lot of energy, good tunes, and a hell of a party.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Oof that’s a pretty tough one. “Shed” is super in your face, and aggressive. “Good Love” is in your face but more sexy vibes rather than aggressive. “Wasting Time” is more chill and poppy and hooky. I’d have to gauge the person’s mood and personality in context. All of those songs can turn you on if the timing is right.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
Some favourite locals at the moment are Blandlord, No Big Deal, Monowhales, The Anti-Queens, The Crooked, Ready The Prince, Uforia. Some better known Canadian acts we love are PUP, Alvvays, Metric, Tom Barlow, Sloan, honestly now that you got me thinking there’s too many to list! I love Oscar Peterson too, and so many other great Canadian legends.
