Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi!! I’m Maryam and I write under “Pool Blood”, I’m from Toronto!

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

My music is sorta all over the place, I would say my music is for people with water astrological signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio). I try to write in the moment and my style of writing can be very unfiltered and sorta like I’m talking out loud?

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

I have two shows coming up in October– October 1st at The Baby G and October 10th at The Owl’s Club! My live performances are intimate and pretty tender, I just want everyone to feel like they’re at home with a blanket and a cozy sweater, in bed.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Hm, I think it would be “I’m Sorry”, mostly because I think, for the most part, I want my songs to have vulnerable tones, no bullshit. “I’m Sorry” really shines that through.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

I love Canadian bands!! I grew up with so many, but currently, I love Weaves, Pony, Louie Short, Alvvays and so many more!
