Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

We are Sweet Jules and Pat James AKA Sweet And The Big Bad.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

Musically, we’re a rock band. We touch on the blues, southern rock, and good old rock n’ roll. Our writing style is a little unique because we are a female and male vocally fronted group so the stories within the songs can sometimes take on new meaning depending on our vocal arrangement. Generally, we start with music and melody which we let simmer until the content of the story starts to reveal itself to us.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

We have some tentative shows which we can’t announce just yet but follow us on Bandsintown to be kept in the loop.

Our live show is pretty solid for such a new band. I am certain it’s because we’re veteran performers and have surrounded ourselves with top-notch players.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Clearly it would be our brand new single “Coming Back” which is available on all streaming platforms and download sites. It’s by far the best representation of our sound and a great first impression maker…also, it’s the only song we’ve released so far.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

We listen to The Wild, The Glorious Sons, Colin James, The Tea Party, and Big Wreck a lot. There’s really too many to mention.
