Now they have released a brand new single, “Alive”. Check it out below and find out more about the duo in our Five Questions With segment.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We’re Jordan & Erika! aka HOFFEY. Which is our last names combined! We’re an indie-electronic duo based out of Vancouver, Canada.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
We love all types of music but what naturally comes out is an R&B, Indie vibe which we add electronic elements to it in the creative process. Usually when we write, one of us will have a melody or a chord progression, the other starts to add on lyrics, etc. Honestly, it’s all about grooving and vibing and just seeing what comes out of it. It’s really fun to have the same passion and do that together.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
Yeah, we’re super excited to play Westward Music Festival in North Van Sept 13th as well as Shipyards Festival Sept 28th!
Our setup is a couple of keyboards, laptop and launch pads with a drummer. Sometimes we play acoustic, just depends on the atmosphere.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Currently, we only have a few songs out, but we’d have to suggest “Alive” which is our latest single! But we cannot wait to put out more music so soon!
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
Dallas Green from City and Colour is one of our all-time favorites. When we first met, we went and saw him live and would listen to him all the time. We also love Daniel Caesar! There’s a lot of talent in Canada.
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
