Its hard to believe that Boots and Hearts begins tomorrow! We are in full preparation mode at Canadian Beats and can’t wait to get on the grounds at Burls Creek in Oro-Medonte, Ontario to capture all that this amazing 4-day festival has to offer. Leading up to the festival, we have had the chance to sit down with a few of the Canadian artists gracing the stage this year to chat about Boots and Hearts and to give you the chance to learn a little bit about them before they hit the stage. Today we are pleased to introduce to you, Kris Barclay.

Introduce yourself to our readers.

Hey, I’m Kris Barclay! I’m a hockey player turned Country Artist and entertainer. I was fortunate to be the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist in 2018, and have my current and debut single “Loved You Like That” available everywhere now!

What part of Canada are you from/do you currently reside in?

I’m from and still live in Ajax, Ontario.

Describe your preparations for a big festival like Boots and Hearts.

I’ve been to Boots and Hearts and other big festivals and concerts so many times as a fan, so I want to use the fan perspective to plan out our show and make sure we really put on a great show for everyone this year. Being on stage is my favourite part of the business, so I’m excited more than anything, we just want to put on the best show we can!

There are so many talented artists who are taking part in this festival.  Who are you excited to check out?

There are so many, the lineup is great this year! I’m really excited to open for, and then watch both The Cadillac 3 and Chase Rice, Jason Aldean has been a big influence on me, he’s always great. I’ve never seen Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Kane Brown, or Kip Moore before so it’s exciting for me to be able to see so many amazing artists for the first time! The list goes on, Morgan Wallen, Ashley Mcbryde…I can’t wait!

Are you performing at any other music festivals this summer that you would like to tell us about?

Ya, we have a bunch! Most notably, we’re opening for Brett Kissel on Saturday, July 27 at the Toronto Festival of Beer, which we’re excited about! A bunch more are lined up as well, it should be a really busy rest of the summer!

What does the rest of 2019 look like for you?

I plan to play a bunch more shows, while I continue to write and prepare to eventually put out more music!

What is your favourite festival food?

I can’t seem to get away from the Blooming Onions…but I’d probably say that my favourite is a pulled pork sandwich!
