“Returning to my old High School in PEI to film the video for “Raise Your Head” was really cathartic for me for many reasons. This is where I sang my first note, as the lead female role in my grade 12 musical Footloose. Being given that opportunity and chance as someone with no experience changed the entire trajectory of my life, and for that I am so grateful. High school was also a tough time for me with friends and bullying, so to be able to go back as a different person with a new perspective was powerful for me. It goes perfectly with the first line of the song ‘Everybody says that I’ve changed, well thank God.’”
“Raise Your Head” is Walker’s third song added to her collection after her debut single “Fight Till The End” was released earlier this year, followed by “Sunny Day” during Mental Health Awareness Week (May). The tracks will be part of her full album, “The Basement Sessions: What I’ve Learned So Far” launching September 13.
Hi there! My name is Marie, I am French born and raised, now living in Montreal. I work in Marketing by day, and I’m an avid concert-goer by night. I have always had a passion for photography, and realized that this mixes quite well with my love for live music (the absolute best way to experience music, if you ask me).
