Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to let you know the prolific songwriter Kellen Saip has released a brand new single that you are going to feel in your soul. “Down” is a heart-wrenching song about addiction and the struggles of good an evil in one’s soul. The authenticity lyrically speaks to Kellen’s own experiences and creates an admirably honest tone to the recording.
The new single also features Matt Kelly on pedal steel who is known for playing alongside Dallas Green of City and Colour, Ben Rogers, and recently played on “P!nk’s” Hurts 2B Human alongside Chris Stapleton.
Kellen enlisted a team of musicians including producer Kyler Pierce, who could keep the honesty in his song through their performance. The straightforward approach to production invites the listener to join Kellen through the hardship, and through the pain to feel the whole experience. The performance is an emotional freight train that keeps gaining momentum and hits you hard.
Mr. Saip’s lyrics and vocals together deliver an intimate experience that can one minute be sweet and silky like a fine wine and the next raspy and strong that hits you harder than a cheap shot of whiskey. The bands incredibly organic performance really breathes allowing the lyrics to paint a picture of the struggles through highs and lows of life as a musician and addictions that come with it.
Hey there! I’m Zach I love long walks on the beach and movies that make you cry. Wait a minute this isn’t my E-Harmony account. Let’s try this again, hi I’m Zach from Dawson Creek, BC. Before you think it, no it’s not like the TV show! I have loved music ever since I was a kid back in Abbotsford, BC where I was born. Moved up north when I was about six and was practically raised up here. Hands down one of my favorite Canadian band has to be Simple Plan, with Dallas Smith coming in second. One of my Favorite Things I enjoy doing is just sitting around listening to music or taking pictures. I’d say I’m a pretty good photographer but you can be the judge of that. Just even ask a couple of my friends City light vigil, Scarlet serenity or Violet night. If you’re still reading this congratulations you’ve reached the end.
