Who: Ryley Walker, Lou Doillon
Where: MTelus, Montreal QC
When: July 3rd 2019
Days go by, and the Montreal International Jazz Festival is still going strong! For the Day 8 of the festival, we headed to MTelus to catch Ryley Walker open the evening. Their sound is quite uniquely eclectic, ranging from indie rock, to psychedelic, with hints of grunge. That mix of sounds (and the great jokes in between, sometimes during) song is what made the Brooklyn band’s set so enjoyable.
Next on the stage was French it-girl Lou Doillon. The stage setup was simple but refreshing: her band, no props, not even a mic stand for her as she roamed and danced around holding her wired microphone. Her angelic looks, funky dance moves and incredible sultry voice gave a whole je ne sais quoi to her performance, as she put the audience under her spell and left everyone seduced and wanting more!
