Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi everyone, my name is Barbara Lynn Doran, BLD or Barb. I am a Singer/Songwriter, Artist from Brooklin, Ontario.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
My music is a cross between Country, Pop, and Rock. I love Power Ballads and most of my favourites that I’ve written definitely fall into that category. I write a lot about heartbreak and prefer to write songs with a deeper meaning.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I have a cluster of dates in July that are all currently listed on my website. My live performance is dynamic, rehearsed but not staged and am always backed by a killer band.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Most artist/songwriters are always in love with whatever song babies are the newest and I love my new Single “Things I Can’t Fix” because it is a topic very close to home for me. But if I had to suggest one it would be “Stranger” from my album Reveal. This song was written during an extremely difficult time in my life and continues to take on new meaning each year for me.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/artists?
Aaron Goodvin, Jessica Mitchell, Sons of Daughters, Dan Davidson, Megan Patrick, Small Town Pistols, Lindsay Ell
