With the fields of Lebreton Flats still under a foot of snow, the warm reminder that RBC Ottawa Bluesfest is just around the corner is bringing the people out of their winter hibernation.
Canada’s premier blues festival and the highlight of the summer festival season returns July 4 through July 14 and will feature it’s signature mix of international and Canadian headliners, alongside an array of local talent.
Headliners for this year’s festival include rock icons, The Killers, ’90’s superstars, Backstreet Boys, rappers Wu-Tang Clan, Canadian hardcore favourites, Alexisonfire, and blues legend, Buddy Guy.
Additional Canadian artists scheduled to appear at this year’s Bluesfest include the Sheepdogs, the Trews, Jessie Reyez and the Dirty Nil.
Tickets will be available March 7 for a special one-day presale; with full regular festival passes starting at $209. For more information, please visit ottawabluesfest.ca.
Born and raised with thoughts and aspirations of becoming a famous bassist in Sarnia, ON; Emily Plunkett now lives in Gatineau, QC, and considers National Capital Region home sweet home. A product of the Beatles, MuchMusic and the Southwestern Ontario summer festival circuit (circa 2000), her interest and love in concert photography came almost completely by accident when her journalism program at Algonquin College required courses in photojournalism (and she quickly realized that photos taken at concerts using a DSLR are enormously better than ones she was taking on a point-and-shoot she bought for a trip to England). She is extremely proud of the fact she has seen Sloan in some form or another 25 times.
