Ontario-based country artist, Dustin Bird may only be 22-years old but he’s already pushing the boundaries of modern country music. His brand new single, “Wake Up” is a catchy track that guarantees you will be singing along in no time. The single was written entirely by Bird and mixed & mastered by Nashville’s Grammy award-winning engineers F. Reid Shippen (Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban) and Pete Lyman (Chris Stapleton, Zach Brown).
Here at Canadian Beats, we love finding new talent and are excited to be premiering this single with all of you.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello readers! My name is Dustin Bird, I am 22 years-old from Stirling, Ontario, and I write and perform Country music.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
I’ve been a fan of Country and Pop music for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been inspired to create it since learning to play the guitar. My approach to writing and producing Country music borrows a lot from Pop music, as I’m always looking for something fresh, unique and exciting to breath new life into my style. I am in love with the feeling that a great Country song can create; the kind of warmth and almost undefinable energy that can’t compare to anything else. As an artist, my goal is to create that feeling in a brand new way with every song.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I often perform acoustically as normally I’m performing in fairly intimate venues and I love the ability to share a one-on-one experience with the crowd. I like to keep things as exciting and energetic as possible. If the crowd’s having fun, I’m having fun. This summer’s shows may see me in a full-band setting a little more often which I’m very excited about, so keep your eyes & ears peeled for that! In the meantime, I’m having a release party for my new single ‘Wake Up’ on March 2nd at Signal Brewery in Corbyville, ON. This show is featuring some of my extremely talented Can. Country friends Abby Stewart, Matt Martin, and Ches Anthony. It’s going to be a ton of fun & I’m looking forward to all of the live events coming in 2019!
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
My brand new one, of course! Haha but in all honesty, the song that I’m most excited about and that I feel best represents the artist I am today is ‘Wake Up’. For me, this song captures the essence of my sound and is the best look into what’s to come!
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
I LOVE Canadian music. Some of my biggest inspiration in songwriting came from Canadian music. Artists such as Dean Brody, Tebey, Deric Ruttan and so many more started as and still remain some of my favourite artists and writers today. Country music is booming in Canada with some amazing artists and I am really excited to be entering that space!
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
