Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello, I’m Cory M. Coons… Canadian Recording Artist and Songwriter.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I would have to say my music is a mixture of my Melodic Rock and Roots-Rock influences throughout my career in music for the most part, occasionally with light elements of Country-Rock. There’s a prominent 70’s and 80 ‘s melodic rock feel and influence at times. Also, I like to try to incorporate a sense of telling a good story that can resonate with my listeners and fans. And at other times I can write with a lot of personal emotion. I like to think a good song is a good song!

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

I have a couple of performances coming up this month of December. A private acoustic show this weekend, Dec 8th in Kemptville, Ontario. And also a show with my band for another Christmas Party on Dec 15th in Williamsburg, Ontario. My band shows are usually pretty high in energy with my guys, we like to rock when we can! Lol… I like to feature as much of my own material as possible these days, sometimes with some great classic and popular rock and roots-rock stuff thrown in. And my acoustic shows tend to be a little more intimate in nature, but sometimes get quite lively as well depending on the crowd, and who might be joining me to perform. 🙂

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

That’s very hard to choose sometimes. I think my entire latest album “The Long Road Home” is a great representation of my music currently. 🙂  I could narrow it down to two or three songs, maybe “Long Road”, “Once Too Many, Twice Not Enough” and the latest single “Would You Stay” from the new album.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

Probably Classic Artists like Bryan Adams, Tom Cochrane, Neil Young, Honeymoon Suite, Loverboy and many more.
