  • Serena Ryder recently released her holiday album, Christmas Kisses. The six-time Juno Award winner drew inspiration for the album from her childhood memories of listening and singing along to artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simon, and Chet Baker. Christmas Kissesfeatures nine holiday favourites and one brand new original song.

Included on the album; “Let It Snow,” “White Christmas,” “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” “Blue Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Santa Baby,” “The Christmas Song,” and the title track “Christmas Kisses.”

“I believe the TRUE spirit of Christmas is about real love and gratitude and not about presents, decorations and what someone literally ‘brings to the table’,” Ryder shares in the album’s liner notes. “It’s a time to reflect and give thanks to all the people, relationships, and memories we are grateful for. For me, my gratitude runs deep. And through these songs, I was able to touch a place I only dreamed of as a child. A place I am now able to live in every time I sing these songs.”

Ryder has even released the official music video for “Christmas Kisses.” You can check it out here.

  • Megan Bonnell shares her brand new original holiday song, “Santa Needs A Santa.” The singer-songwriter co-wrote the new track with her production partners Chris Stringer and Joshua Van Tassel. The song explores the complexity of being Santa.

“If you think about what his day to day must be like, it’s probably a very hard and thankless job; Mrs. Claus has been spending the last few holidays with her girlfriends in the Florida Keys to escape the cold. After all their hard work, the elves and reindeer return to their families and Santa finds himself alone. No one is there to hang his stocking or put a present under his tree. “The snow and the cold, the growing old, the weight of such great expectation, the lights and the trees, the sled, and the wreaths, it’s all such lonely work when you’re make believe”… Santa most definitely needs a Santa.” Bonnell shared about the song.

“Santa Needs A Santa” has already been added to Spotify’s Christmas In Canada playlist. Bonnell also recently released her album Separate Rooms which is a collection of 10 new songs that explore not only timely themes but is also a bold statement of a self-assured woman navigating an increasingly dark and perplexing world.
