Stone Temple Pilots are reborn on the band’s latest – Stone Temple Pilots (2018). It’s the group’s seventh studio album since its 1992 debut, but the first to feature new singer Jeff Gutt. The band’s founding members – Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz – officially welcomed the Detroit native to STP last year after conducting an 18-month-long search for its third singer. Dean DeLeo says they wanted someone who had the vocal range to do the catalog justice, as well as the confidence and creativity to carve out a new path forward with the band. “We got our guy,” he says.

Seether is a South African rock band founded in May 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas. Disclaimer is their original album and major label debut. They gained mainstream popularity in 2002 with their US Active Rock number one single “Fine Again”, and their success was sustained in 2004 with the single “Broken” which peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. They have experienced continued success with number one hits on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart such as “Remedy”, “Fake It”, “Country Song”, “Words as Weapons”, and “Let You Down”. The band currently consists of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Shaun Morgan, bassist Dale Stewart, drummer John Humphrey, and guitarist Corey Lowery. Seether has undergone several lineup changes since their formation in 1999, with vocalist/guitarist Shaun Morgan, drummer John Humphrey and bassist Dale Stewart remaining constant.

The majority of their fan base is in Canada, but they gained popularity in the United States with the release of their hit single “Wasting My Time”. The group disbanded in 2013 after a hiatus following the release of their fourth album. In 2018, Default announced that they were back together and will be going on a reunion tour across Canada, They will be on support for Stone Temple Pilots and Seether Co-headline Tour with Ages of Days in October/November and will be doing a Headline Tour with Age of Days opening for them on select dates across Canada.

I shoot live music performances and concerts. I love the excitement of entering a venue, knowing that I’ll be photographing a concert and enjoying the energy of the crowd. There’s nothing like being in a venue and looking at the expressions on the faces of people who are all transfixed by the talent onstage. I shoot about 120 shows each year, averaging 2 bands per show, as well as several all-day and weekend festivals in and around Southern Ontario. From the large venues to very small ones, bright lights or barely lit stages, I hope that my photos capture the enjoyment the artists have in doing what they love to do.
