This past Friday night was quiet, relaxing and full of acoustic talent at The Carleton in Halifax. It was the third night of Halifax Pop Explosion—an annual music festival and conference featuring musicians from all over Canada and even outside of the country. The talent this night was Halifax artist Gianna Lauren and headliner Gaelynn Lea from Minnesota.

I’m Shayla, and I was born in Saskatoon but moved to Halifax in 2013 for University, and since decided to stay here for a while. I recently received a Bachelor of Design, after studying photography for a year or two as well. I love everything about music and how it has the ability to bring so many people together from across the country and even the world. My passion for music is one of the reasons I moved East to pursue a photography and design career, as I would love to do graphic design and photography within the Canadian music industry.
