If asked who his favourite Country Music Artist of all time is, Gil Grand would say the legendary Conway Twitty. So, it is no surprise that when Grand wanted to put together a tribute show, this is who he chose.
‘One Night with Conway’ is no ordinary tribute show. Grand has collected some of the best moments and interviews with the artist plus, some interviews with people that knew him best. These are all displayed on a projector screen behind Grand as he performs his show. It is uncanny how much Grand sounds like Twitty in his recordings. A feature that adds to the nostalgia of the show.
Grand is currently touring the show across Canada, with more dates being added. On October 27 and 28, he will be coming home to Northern Ontario to perform shows in Timmins and his home town of Sudbury. Canadian Beats is proud to be a supporter of the Sudbury show, at the Caruso Club, along with local radio station KICX 91.7.
Currently, KICX 91.7 is running a contest for one lucky fan to win the opportunity to sing “Don’t Cry Joni” on stage with Grand at the Sunday evening performance. Listeners are asked to call in when prompted to do their best singing. It has been fun to hear each day’s contestant.
Hear all about the show and more in this phone interview we did recently.

Hello everyone! My name is Linda and I have been a fan of Canadian Music for as long as I can remember. That counts for way too many decades than I want to admit to! I have three primary passions in my life, music, photography and writing. When I can combine them all, I feel I am right where I should be. Though I can appreciate all genres of music, my particular favourite is Country. Canadian Country is moving in leaps and bounds. I love how it is progressing and I’m thankful that I can be a small part of it.
