Ahead of Rally Cry, the Hamilton, Ontario based rock band’s seventh release, Arkells have released “Relentless”. While the band has previously released “People’s Champ” in May, “Relentless” is both the album’s lead single and is a signifier for the band’s slight change in direction.
For the first time, Arkells have chosen to include a sample, in which “Relentless” was built around. The keyboard line, which runs throughout most of the song, was sampled from South African artist, Chicco, and gives the track a bouncing groove and a slightly uplifting vibe.
Rally Cry is due for release on October 19th and is produced by Eric Ratz (Knocking At The Door, Leather Jacket), mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac) and mastered by Greg Calbi (Arcade Fire, Kacy Musgraves).
I’m Gerrod, a Toronto based writer and musician. As soon as I started drumming, music became one of my greatest passions. Since then, I have also picked up the guitar, bass, and a hint of the piano. I am currently studying music and education at York University, and drum in a local hard rock band, One In The Chamber. This puts me right in the heart of Toronto’s growing music scene.
