We are always thrilled to talk to Penticton, BC-based country artist, Beamer Wigley. Beamer has been keeping busy, recently releasing the video for his newest single, “Rollercoaster”, which you can check out below and find out more about this rising country star in our Five Questions With segment.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Beamer Wigley! Music has always been a huge part of my life, Carlos Santana used to be my bedtime lullaby. I grew up listening to every kind of music you could think of, but country always stood out as my favourite genre. When I was 5 I saw the music video for Keith Urban and Brad Paisley’s song “Start a Band” and right then I knew I had to play guitar. The next day I got my first guitar and I never set it down. Over a decade later here we are!
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
My music has definitely made a large shift over the last 2 years. Before my songs were leaning towards the more contemporary/pop side of country. But as I started writing more and finding myself as an artist, I realized that I liked leaning more towards the rock side of country. A lot of really guitar-based songs, and definitely no shortage of solos.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I’ve had a busy summer and right now I’m excited for the CCMA’s, always lots of chances to perform there! I guess the easiest way to describe my shows is to say there is no lack of energy. I always make sure the energy stays really high, I also love throwing a song or two in there that I know the crowd will love.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
It would have to be my new single Roller Coaster. This song is really a new chapter for me, it’s really me finding who I am as an artist. I also played all of the guitars on the track, I am really proud of this song and I feel that it shows who I am as an artist.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/artists?
That’s a tough one! There are so many amazing Canadian artists and bands. A band that I’m really digging right now is Whale and the Wolf, their new single is fantastic! Also, everything that Brett Kissel puts out is always amazing and of course, Aaron Pritchett is also awesome!
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
