Who: The Northern Coast, Surf Dads, Landos & The Night Terrors
When: August 4, 2018
Where: Dickens Pub, Calgary AB
It was a great night in Calgary if you were an indie music fan at Dickens Pub on Saturday evening. Calgary’s The Night Terrors, Landos and The Northern Coast welcomed The Surf Dads from Regina for a wonderful night of indie rock.
Opening the evening was The Night Terrors who played an energetic set that included tunes from their new EP ‘Songs to Keep You Up at Night Vol. 1. A great start to the evening. You can check The Night Terrors out on Bandcamp.
Continuing the evening with some very cool bluesy tunes was Landos. Folksy and bluesy, their music really set a cool vibe in the room. Check out their full-length album Simple Things on Bandcamp.
Next up were The Surf Dads from Regina. This band is awesome to watch live as their high energy punk-infused indie rock leaves no-one disappointed. From Gage McGuire’s powerful vocals and guitar to Chris Dimas’ killer drumming, this band leaves it all on stage. Surf Dads are currently on a western Canadian tour supporting their newly released EP Long Weekend.
The Northern Coast ended the night with a fantastic indie rock set that drew from their EP ‘Revelry’ and also many new songs of their soon to be released full-length album. The crowd loved the amazing vocals and harmonies backed up by great guitar work and a driving rhythm section. I am really looking forward to the new album and will make sure to catch these guys the next time they are playing live.
