Osheaga 2018 Recap

With the first weekend of August also ends the 2018 edition of Osheaga. The Montreal festival was sold out this year, with more than 130,000 people showing up to party under the blazing heat (and a little rain intermission early Saturday), making it once again one of Canada’s biggest summer festivals.

This year’s edition showed the growing importance of rap and hip-hop as part of the lineup, with Travis Scott as headliner on Friday, and many more performances of the genre compared to previous years: Post Malone, Goldlink, Brockhampton, Rae Sremmund, Tyler The Creator, and others gave heated sets, attracting packed audiences and crazy moshpits.

Saturday and Sunday’s headliners were both Osheaga alumni: Arctic Monkeys performed in 2014, Florence + The Machine in 2015. Nevertheless, massive crowds were drawn towards the main stages to party the night away to the sounds of these incredible bands.

Some of our favourite moments from the rest of the lineup include Odesza’s insane stage production, the throwback vibes of Blondie’s set, James Bay’s impressive guitar solos, Anderson .Paak’s overflowing energy, and Tyler the Creator’s eccentric performance!

With the renovations of Parc Jean Drapeau well underway, Osheaga should be moving back to its original site next year. We are already looking forward to seeing how the 2019 edition of the festival will surpass this one, only a year to go!
