Who: Aaron Goodvin with Tristan Horncastle and Melissa Hunt
When: July 14, 2018
Where: Sussex SummerFest, Sussex, NB
Sussex, NB was a hotbed this weekend under the tent with a full evening of Country Music from Award Winning Musicians Aaron Goodvin and Tristan Horncastle along with up and coming artist Melissa Hunt.
I headed out from my Hometown of Fredericton, N.B. to catch this amazing and high energy show and could not wait for an amazing evening of country music. I had to see my hometown boy Tristan Horncastle play this show and I saw Aaron Goodvin last fall when he was in Fredericton doing a charity show so I knew that these 2 artists would not disappoint, and they sure did not. They played to a packed house of country fans who love their country music along with this girl. They knew many of the songs and sang along to the words with the artist. It was amazing to see the artist just stop and let the fans sing their songs.
Opening up the show is a new artist and her name is Melissa Hunt. She is originally from Newfoundland but now calls Moncton her home. She started the show out with one of her songs called “Highway 83” and ended the show with “Smoke and Cinders”. She is presently working on her debut album. She was a great opening act for Tristan and Aaron. If you get to see this young lady, go. She is amazing and definitely someone to watch. Also noteworthy that she is one of the nicest ladies I have had the pleasure to meet.
Next up was Fredericton local boy Tristan Horncastle. I have been fortunate to see Tristan from the start of his career where he was playing local bars to now playing festivals and arenas and opening for some of the big-name artists in Country Music. He has opened for Tim Hicks, Aaron Goodvin, Dean Brody, and Travis Tritt just to name a few. He loves performing live and you can tell how much he feeds off the live crowds. He is amazing to watch live, so make sure to check him out next time you get the chance. He will not disappoint you. Tristan performed many of his hits including “Drinkin’ Girl”, “Gone by Midnight” and many more.
Then it was time for Nashville-based Canadian artist Aaron Goodvin to take the stage and boy was this crowd ready for him. He rocked that stage like the true country artist that he is. He had that crowd in his hands and they were loving it. They sang along to his songs and I loved it when he stopped and watch them sing his songs. That is such an amazing thing to witness. From a fans perspective, I love it when that happens. To see the expression on the artists face when that happens is priceless. He sang many of his songs, including “Miss Me Yet” and “Lonely Drum”. He also performed an amazing cover of “Walking in Memphis”. This is one young man who loves what he is doing and the crowd loves him. If you have a chance to see Aaron, make sure you do. Its great to see a bigger name artist coming to our small town of Sussex, N.B. for a festival. The fans love it when a big name comes to our small town and we thank them.
If you get a chance to see any of these artists in concert go and see them. They love performing for their fans and you will not be disappointed by any of these acts.
