Review – Nate Husser

EP: minus 23
Release Date: July 6, 2018
Genre: Rock/Rap

Sonically dense, lyrically insightful, and nothing short of surreal, psych-rock phenomenon Nate Husser is blowing away the competition with his latest EP release, minus 23. Part of a 3-part project that semi-autobiographically details the story of an artist and the love-hate relationship he has with his hometown, minus 23 is an atmospheric labour of love that will immediately rope in both casual listeners and long-time fans of the genre.

Opening track “Project_001” blasts the EP wide open: with Husser’s husky vocals, heavy rhythms, and emotional ebb and flow of the lyrics, you won’t be able to tear yourself away. It’s increasingly rare to find music that is poignant while still maintaining its commercial availability, but minus 23 nails it— lovers of Beyonce’s Lemonade and Childish Gambino will swoon for this Canadian entry to the genre.
