Toronto/Montreal-based singer-songwriter Avery Florence has released a brand new single along with music video for “Faded Into Light”. Avery shares on the single,
“Everyone has darkness, this song is about bringing out your inner light, and reaching your highest potential.”
“I really wanted to ignite that within others. I especially wanted to collaborate with kids from across the world who, despite a lack of opportunities, are shining their light and following their ‘fire.’”
The video for “Faded Into Light” features the FFF (Fire Fly Friends), a group of fire spinners living and performing on the Cambodian island of Koh Rong.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey everybody. I’m a soft-soul artist. I like to write in several different genres; pop, R&B, ambient, electronic, but it always comes back to that soul. That’s why we need music.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
My music is emotionally driven for sure. I love writing in many different styles, but even when I’m free-styling, my voice has an evocative quality that I’m often told both pierces through to your heart & comforts as well.
My best writing is when I need it most, so my music comes through hopeful & soulful. When I share my music, both in produced songs & during live performances, my aim is to make people really feel something & be present.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
My best performances are when I can lose myself in the emotion of the song & share that power with my audience.
I have my last show in Toronto for awhile this Thursday, July 12th at Revival (I’m moving to Montreal Indefinitely- For now). I’m performing for an incredible annual fundraiser that has a stacked lineup of artists this year. The night is to raise money for the 1st school on an island in Cambodia. Our aim is to educate & inspire an island !! I filmed my latest music video for “Faded into Light” with students from the school who are also Fire Spinners. The inspiration has definitely gone both ways. The video is powerful & beautiful, I can’t wait to share it with my audience & especially the kids on the island.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
That’s too hard!! This is like the “if you were stuck on an island with only one album…” question. If I have to, it would be “Faded into Light’ because its the most current song for me. I love all my songs, but I also feel like the ones already released are versions of me from the past. They are forever a part of me, but not who I am right now. Check out Faded. It will make you fly.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
I love Andy Shauf, Half Moon Run, Charlotte Day Wilson, River Tiber. I also just discovered an artist Tamara Sandor. BEAUTIFUL, check out “Leaving Kind”. Listening to Odario Williams on CBC After Dark is how I fall in love with new Canadian artists. Also can’t forget about some greats; Sam Roberts Band, The Band, Neil Young, Shania.
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
