Five Questions With W3APONS

Saskatoon-based rock trio, W3APONS has been very busy this summer!  Their debut single, “Off the Top of My Heart”, produced by The Trew’s John-Angus MacDonald has been well received and they are performing many shows in support of this totally dance-worthy tune!  Saskatoon fans can check W3APONS out at Louis’ this Friday as Rock 102 and LB Distillers present W3APONS with special guests Dukes Under Fire.  Be sure to check out their socials to find out when they play next and check out their single, below!

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey Canadian Beats! We are Tallus, Jordan, and Myk and we play rock n roll in a band called W3APONS.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

Whatever creative juices we happen to be drinking that day! At the moment, our jams have been a concoction of Dance Rock, Grunge, and The Eagles. Yeah – it gets weird, but we all play off of one another. We play music that hits hard – we aim to punch the audience in the face… and then coddle them with our melodies.

Have you had any recent shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

We played a Canada Day festival in Prince Alberta, SK, and a hometown show at Louis in Saskatoon presented by our friends Rock 102 and Lucky Bastard Distillers. The Louis show acted as the official release party for our single “Off the Top of My Heart”.

Our show is energetic, natural, and sweaty. We go for it on stage, Tallus never stops smiling, and Myk is seldom even on the stage. We genuinely love what we do, and anyone who has seen us perform can attest to that.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Our most recent release “Off the Top of My Heart” – which was produced by John-Angus MacDonald (The Trews, Glorious Sons) – check it out on Spotify, and all other streaming services – or request it on your local rock station!

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

We’re not ashamed to say we like Nickelback, and Tallus has seen them 5 times. Myk has seen Billy Talent 6 times (and met them twice, he whispers under his breath…) And Jordan has only seen his favourite band, Big Wreck, a measly 4 times. All these bands influence us – songwriting, live performance, and sound.
