Who: Birds of Bellwoods
Where: Mariposa Folk Festival, Orillia, ON
When: Sunday, July 8, 2018
The Toronto-based Birds of Bellwoods took the stage on Sunday for an amazing set at Mariposa Folk Festival.
The band played mostly original songs, including my favourite, “Sky”, off their EP “The Fifth”. Softer songs such as “My Heart is Yours” entranced the crowd while “Roll Your Stone” and a cover of Portugal. The Man’s “Feel It Still” cranked the energy.
Over the course of their set, the band managed to get a tired and reluctant crowd up off their chairs to dance and sing along. About midway through the show, a wicked solo on the upright bass had the audience screaming, and got the last few bystanders hooked.
If you get the opportunity to see these guys live, do not turn it down; they’re headed big places.

Hey, I’m Hannah! I’ve loved music since before I can remember, and I’m so excited to be combining it with my love for photography. My heart belongs to the alternative and indie genres, but I enjoy pretty much any kind of live music. You can check out more of my work at hannahmaynes.ca, or on Instagram @hmaynesphoto
