Canadian R&B and Urban pop artist, Kevin Edworthy, aka KVNE has released his first single, “Make Me Better”. The single was produced by PDUB, and is said to be the most fan relatable piece he has ever produced. It touches on growth and vulnerability in relationships, telling a story about a connection amongst two people close to him. He aims to create nothing less than true, heartfelt connections between his music and audiences.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey everyone! My name is Kevin, musically known as KVNE. I’m a singer-songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario, and co-founder of the record label, KillaKollective. I’ve spent a majority of the last few years as an audio engineer and songwriter to broaden and perfect my craft. I am now focused on rebranding myself as an artist with the release of my new single ‘Make Me Better’.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
I’ve been working with a small group of writers, producers and the like through KillaKollective for just over a year now. We do everything from private-concentrated writing sessions, writing camps, to bringing in other writers to collaborate, all of whom are well developed and bring something different to the table. We collectively focus on getting that one sound right. We start our process by laying out the beat, then we come up with ideas for what our concept should be, all while experimenting with different melodies. We then start writing and see where the words take us.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I do! You can catch me at Remix Lounge on June 29th, alongside some other great local talent for the launch of a new clothing brand called 6Dot. I’m planning on doing a couple more shows over the summer to promote my new single ‘Make Me Better’. I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated via Instagram and Facebook.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
I’d have to say my latest single ‘Make Me Better’, available on all major music streaming platforms. It’s a crossover R&B song, and relatable for all listeners.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
Canadian music has always been close to my heart, I grew up listening to bands like Tegan & Sara, Mother Mother and The Arkells. Urban artists such as Tory Lanez, Roy Woods and The Weeknd have always brought a lot of inspiration to my own musical career.
