Edmonton-born, Montreal-based singer-songwriter, Michael Rault ‘s new album It’s A New Day Tonight was released on May 18, 2018, via Sleepless Records in Canada and Wick Records (a subsidiary of Daptone) for the rest of the world. Now, he has released a video for the quasi-title track, “New Day Tonight”.

Michael explains,

“It was the first song I wrote for the album, so it’s very near and dear to my heart. Lyrically, it’s a semi-autobiographical tale of someone who only feels good in the evening. I like the fact that the song is almost completely describing a positive nightlife experience, but the opening line implies that it’s coming as a major relief after spending much of the day depressed.” Directed by Amanda Macchia and conceived by Michael and the album’s producer and Daptone recording engineer, Wayne Gordon, the video is a lo-fi psychedelic escapade that finds a drug-hazed Rault struggling with reality as he relives a Groundhog Day esque series of evenings.
