The 16th edition of FME is set to take place from August 30 to September 2, 2018. The Festival de musique émergente en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (FME) promises to be an unforgettable event for everyone involved.
Although the complete program won’t be announced until July 17, the FME team has announced a few of the great artists who will be performing, including Montreal rapper Loud, Montreal duo Milk & Bone will make their debut at FME, whereas Random Recipe and Galaxie return to the festival. The FME is also very excited to present crystalline-voiced South African soul phenomenon Nakhane.
Other additions include singer-songwriter Hubert Lenoir (winner of the 2018 Révélation chanson award from Radio-Canada), folk artist Lydia Képinsky, and Montreal’s Kandle.
Neoclassical pianist Alexandra Stréliski brings her intimate musical sensibility to the festival this year, and they are also pleased to welcome funk veterans The Brooks and exciting newcomers Klaus and TEKE TEKE.
In addition to video mapping installations presented in collaboration with UQAT, the FME has created a Pop-Up VR Garden of interactive musical delights in virtual and augmented reality. This new initiative is a co-production with Montreal’s Phi Centre, a multidisciplinary cultural and artistic hub that cultivates all aspects of creativity, production, and distribution.
