On Wednesday May 9th, during Canadian Music Week, KX Country hosted a night of Canadian Country Music at The Great Hall. The line-up included River Town Saints, The Reklaws, Robby Johnson, Cory James Mitchell Band and Ben Hudson.
We had the opportunity to meet up with Cory James Mitchell Band before the show to find out a bit about them and what is on the horizon for them.
The Cory James Mitchell Band, based out of Sarnia Ontario, describe themselves as having a unique sound in the Canadian Country scene that can’t help but catch your attention. The music is gritty, genuine and full of emotion, a barebones style of country mixed with southern rock.
It is worth noting that they are up for the SIRIUS XM “Top of the Country” contest. They have made it to the top 3 selected for Central Canada, up against Sudbury’s Andrew Hyatt and Hamilton’s The Redhill Valleys. Daily voting continues till June 6th. Hello everyone! My name is Linda and I have been a fan of Canadian Music for as long as I can remember. That counts for way too many decades than I want to admit to! I have three primary passions in my life, music, photography and writing. When I can combine them all, I feel I am right where I should be. Though I can appreciate all genres of music, my particular favourite is Country. Canadian Country is moving in leaps and bounds. I love how it is progressing and I’m thankful that I can be a small part of it.
